Born on August 5, 1995, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Larry and Rhonda (Harms) Sexton, Landon’s early years were shaped by the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and an adventurous childhood filled with outdoor exploration.

From a young age, Landon had a strong love for the outdoors. He spent countless hours camping, hiking, and four-wheeling through the Colorado landscape, experiences that helped shape his lifelong appreciation for nature. He was also an enthusiastic Boy Scout, known for his determination and competitive spirit. Whether it was selling the most popcorn or striving to win the boxcar derby each year, Landon brought energy and dedication to everything he did. He also developed a passion for roller hockey, where his talent and toughness were evident—he even carried a memorable scar on his forehead from a hockey stick as a lasting reminder of his playing days.

In 2007, Landon’s family relocated to Iowa, where he quickly adapted to rural life and became involved in farming alongside relatives. He was an active participant in 4-H, embracing the agricultural community and its traditions. Summers often found him competing in poultry shows, where he jokingly made it his mission to outdo a certain special Eichenberger competitor, a friendly rivalry that became part of his youth memories. He remained connected to the outdoors through fishing and hunting, though those who knew him well often laughed at his rule that he preferred not to eat the game he harvested. Trapshooting later became one of his favorite sports, where he excelled with natural skill and focus, and he also enjoyed casual rounds of golf with family and friends.

Landon graduated from Algona High School in 2013 and went on to attend Iowa State University, earning a degree in Agronomy in 2017. During his college years, he developed a strong connection to the Iowa State Dairy, where he worked and spent much of his time. It was also during this period that he met his future wife, Maranda, beginning a relationship that would become one of the most important parts of his life. The two were married in August 2019 in Clear Lake, Iowa, and later welcomed twin sons, Emmett and Everett, on July 1, 2022—who quickly became the center of his world.

Those who knew Landon remember him as laid-back and unhurried, someone who moved through life with patience and ease. He often wore a subtle smirk that made others feel like he knew something just out of reach, paired with kind, sparkling eyes and a quiet, dry humor that could brighten any room. He had a deep love for his dogs and was affectionately known as “Big Landon,” a nickname that reflected both his presence and his role as a favorite uncle and trusted friend.

Above all, Landon was a devoted husband and father. His greatest pride and joy were his twin sons, Emmett and Everett, whom he loved endlessly and who adored him in return. His memory will continue to live on through them and through all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 5 to 7 PM at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Bancroft. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward the future care and support of his sons.

Landon Arthur Sexton, age 30, of Titonka, Iowa, passed away on May 6, 2026, leaving behind a deeply loved family and a wide circle of friends who will remember him for his easygoing spirit, steady kindness, and unwavering devotion to those closest to him.
