Jaren D. Johnson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away on May 12, 2026, at the age of 48, leaving behind a family and community who loved him deeply. A resident of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Jaren will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for the people closest to him.
Born on September 18, 1977, Jaren grew up in Shoreview, where he built lifelong friendships and created the foundation for the vibrant and caring person he would become. He graduated from Mounds View High School in 1996 and carried the same outgoing energy and enthusiasm throughout his life that made him unforgettable to those who knew him.
Jaren was a devoted family man whose greatest pride and joy came from the people he loved. He is survived by his loving wife, Shannon Johnson, who stood beside him through life’s many adventures and milestones. Together they built a life centered around love, laughter, and family. He was also a proud and caring father to Evie Johnson, Maggie Olson, and August Whiteside, always encouraging them and celebrating their accomplishments. Becoming a grandfather to Archer brought Jaren tremendous happiness, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandson.
He is also survived by his parents, Jim and Char Johnson; his sister, Adria (Brad) Crego; nieces Savanna and Lanie; his in-laws, Bruce and Gayle Carter; his beloved four-legged companion, Ollie; and many other relatives and dear friends who will miss him profoundly. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, whose memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Those who knew Jaren best often describe him as the life of the party. He possessed a magnetic personality that naturally drew people in and made everyone around him feel welcome. Beneath his humor and outgoing nature was a generous spirit and a sincere desire to make sure others were cared for and enjoying life alongside him. He had a way of bringing energy and laughter into every gathering, creating moments people will remember forever.
Some of Jaren’s happiest memories were made at the family cabin in Webb Lake, Wisconsin, a place that held special meaning to him throughout his life. Whether boating and fishing on the water, snowmobiling through winter trails, golfing with friends, sailing, or flying, Jaren embraced every experience with enthusiasm and a deep appreciation for adventure. He loved the outdoors and treasured the time spent creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, Jaren’s legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and adventure will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Family and friends will forever remember his vibrant spirit, his caring heart, and the joy he brought into their lives.
A celebration of Jaren’s life will take place at a later date as loved ones gather to honor his memory and the remarkable life he lived.
